After earning an English degree at California State University and spending several years as a freelance writer, Laurisa White Reyes joined the writing staff at Santa Clarita Valley Living Magazine. She also spent six years as a columnist for homeschool children and their parents in The Link Homeschool Newspaper.

In 1999, Ms. Reyes began writing guest editorials for The Signal Newspaper in Santa Clarita, CA. She was later invited to join a permanent group of editorialists in writing a political column entitled “Right Here, Right Now.” In 2003, Ms. Reyes’ own weekly column, “The Right Idea,” was featured in Antelope Valley Press.

The newspaper and magazine business soon took over much of Ms. Reyes’s life and she realized that she needed to spend more time with her children and in pursuing her lifelong dream of being a novelist. She left her writing positions in 2004 to focus on completing her first book. Since that time, Ms. Reyes has written seven books including a fantasy novel The Rock of Ivanore, which was a top ten finalist in the 2006 Pacific Northwest Writer’s Association’s writers contest in the juvenile/young adult category. She has also written several non-fiction books including Teaching Kids To Write Well: Six Secrets Every Grown-Up Should Know, A Kids’ Guide To Writing Fiction and The Case For Calvary.

Most recently, Ms. Reyes joined the editing staff at Mapletree Publishing, an independent publisher of homeschool books. In addition, she teaches creative writing classes and mentors young authors-to-be. She continues to write from her home in Southern California where she and her husband homeschool their four children.
